the aftermath

Day 2: 7th December 2008

there have been some residents moving out of their houses in bukit jaya. on foot. there were two roads open for pedestrians. one going through the impian selatan condominium, get past ground zero and eventually get to the other side of the blocked road at the end of taman bukit mewah. the other was to climb up from taman bukit utama and end up at athenaeum condo, then to the main road of bukit antarabangsa. well, there's nothing much you can do about it, really. i mean, the main road has already been blocked. so there's no way that any car can enter or exit the housing area located in the higher part of bukit antarabangsa. bummer.
well, look at the brighter side. we have our water supply reconnected. but still, without electricity, there' s nothing much we can do. we are still surviving, though. food supply are coming from a helicopter landing on a playground at taman bukit utama. so, it shouldn't be that bad. my dad and sister were already volunteering at the food-distribution canopy. and i stayed home. my phone battery was already dead by that time. and i was feeling anxious. what was happening out there?
by nightfall, my dad finally decides to get out of the house. with the help of our neighbour, who was not willing to leave his newly-renovated house yet, we went to impian selatan to cross bukit mewah. with heavy backpacks on our backs. seriously, looking at pictures are not the same as looking at it upclose.
the path was slippery, as a result of rain falling occasionally in the area. and it was dark. no lights were provided along the pathway. thankfully we had already prepared our own flashlight. just in case.
we were greeted with an extreme amount of light at the end of the road. obviously, the search and rescue mission is not finished yet. canopies were up along the road at the surau, for various teams and NGOs. and a mamak booth, too. they were preparing murtabak when we pass through.
then, there was free cabs waiting for us. but my dad has already arranged for his friend to pick us all up. we rode the cab until we get to giant. then my dad's buddy sent us to de palma ampang to check-in. as i entered the room, the first thing i look for was an electric plug. to charge my phone battery. and get back in touch with my friends. and to settle some stuffs.

and so we had to spend our aidiladha there.
