little white lie.

today was a super duper hectic day, with the form submitting and tests and all.
so i was walking around campus, looking anxious so that nobody would get the chance to even touch me.
but then i arrived at my faculty.
there was these book seller trying to attract customers.
they were selling religious book.
so one of the guys came to me and asked me to spend two minutes to hear what they have to say.
i was in a hurry to meet a friend.
but hey, they are selling religious books, and it may be for a good cause.
and i may be at loss if i don't listen to what they have to say.
am i that super great not to listen to what people have to say? no.
so i said okay.

again, i say, i was in a hurry. i have a test an hour later and i haven't finished studying.
so my head was spinning, thinking for a reason to escape.

but, being polite, i took my seat and ready to listen.
the first question he asked was, "have you ever heard of this book?"
so, my answer was, "yeah yeah, maybe i've heard about it. somewhere at home, i think"
in reality, i may have heard of it, but not exactly that book, by that publisher.
i just made that up so he would give up and let me leave.
then he replied, "could you please be true to me?" as if i was lying and was caught in the act.
was i?
so i said, "do you think i'm lying? i said i may have heard of it, not that i do have it. maybe it was from another publisher, with a similar title. i don't know."
so he went on, telling me about the book. the book was selling for RM200.
i was like, hello? do you think i have that much money? even to survive my thesis printing, i have very little money left. what makes you think i would buy your book?
and that was what i told the guy, with much politeness, mind you.
but then he said, "it's okay, give your parents a call and ask them for the money. it's not like they would object to books like this."
i was shocked. who does he think i am? a spoilt brat who lives on her parents bucks?
no way. i've heard enough.
so my next made-up story was that i have a problem that i can't tell him about.
still, he wanted to know.
i said, "i don't know you enough to start sharing my story."
then i said i was sorry. and i left.
and i stuggled to finish revising before my test. which did not succeeded.

was that a little white lie? am i wrong for doing that?
oh. i don't know anymore.
