i often wondered why western movies often picture their children to be reading bedtime stories before falling asleep. finally, after 20 years, i came up with my own theory and medication, with a twist. haha.
i was having some trouble sleeping last night.
i had bounced around the room.
making sure that i am tired enough to eventually fall to sleep.
but it didn't work.
next, i tried counting sheeps.
this had worked when i was in hostels before.
but, i guess since i am sleeping in my own room, the spell refuse to work its magic.
i was stuck, clueless to what more can be done.
then i texted a friend.
wished him a good night.
he replied.
and we went on and on.
until..
i did fell asleep!
i woke up this morning, and there it was.
two texts from him, never opened nor replied.
that made me smile.
as i have eventually found out, reading loose materials before you sleep actually helps to relax your mind. hence the popular bedtime stories. have you ever seen a horror bedtime story. i reckon you have not. one criteria of the stories, it must have happy endings. right?
that ease and calming motion of your brain would make it easier for the brain to shut down, and you falling asleep. even a text message helps. but don't talk serious stuffs, of course. that makes your brain even more stressed. talk about your surroundings, for example. I, as a former future doctor, say it works.
so, dear ladies and gentlemen, in the world today, you can get so much to solve your tiny little problems using our oh-so-updated gadgets. hehe.
next time i'll try the story books.
but my kind of novels are usually the serious ones.
hmm, we shall see to believe.
xoxo, bell.
